Face Painting by Joy

Face painting brings your imagination to life!

We use the highest quality cosmetic grade (FDA approved) theatrical paints. Easily washes off with soap and water: massage lathered soap directly over the paint, then wipe off with a damp cloth.

"Laughing brains are more absorbent," (Brown)  Having fun is healthy! Being creative is healthy! Let's face it, the paint washes off, but the memories will last a lifetime. And this is NOT just for kids! Designs available for all ages and any theme.

Each design is hand painted and can vary from a full detailed face mask to smaller, faster designs. Face Painting engages creative spirits and is a great way to entertain kids of all ages! Designs can compliment a themed party, or Joy can provide a selection of ideas to paint any idea their hearts desire.

Joy has a natural talent for working with children. She teaches private art classes and has worked with children for years. Formally trained in fine arts, Joy attended Hartford Art School (Studio Arts), Fashion Institute of Technology (Fashion Design & Interior Design), and Johnson State College (Arts Education). She completed her Art Teacher Certification at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and is a State Licensed Art Educator (PreK-12) since 2017.

She has taken private art classes since the age of 7 and all throughout her life. She deeply appreciates the value of nurturing the creative 'streak' within every child. That simple gesture can alter a child's entire psyche: expanding their imagination, vision, goals and life perspective.

Joy is fully insured and cares about your safety. All products in her kits are safe (even on sensitive skin), but if you're unsure - feel free to ask for a free swatch-test on your arm! We only use cosmetic grade glitter, never craft glitter. If cosmetic glitter gets into the eyes, simply flush with water immediately. NEVER use metal craft glitter on the body (which can damage your eyes & scratch the cornea); and we NEVER use cheap, acrylic paints (which can cause allergic reactions, hives or breakouts). We use ONLY the best products and always pay special attention to best hygienic and sanitary practices.

Occasionally certain pigments (such as black or red) can stain the skin (think of brilliant red lipstick, even after it has been wiped off it leaves a red hue and then fades). Trace stains can easily be removed with an all-natural homemade mixture of baking soda & water. Spoon baking soda into the palm of your hand & mix it with a few drops of water (to the consistency of toothpaste) then use as a gentle exfoliant, buffing the skin in soft circular motions. The more dry skin is, the more likely it is to stain. Moisturize!

"I love the magic of temporary art... the impermanence of face & body painting. Being able to become a different character, embody a theme, become a concept ... & have the ability to wash it all off & completely change everything... to me, there is something magical in that. This artwork keeps you in the NOW; you know it won't last, so it becomes a marker of time.

This work is also an act of trust. While getting painted, you sort of have to let go of control ...& your anticipation of seeing the end result grows the whole time you're being worked on! When I am finished & I love seeing peoples' reactions to what they look like. It makes me feel like what I do makes people happy. And that's important!"
